England honour for Altham brothers
6:42pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012
Brothers George and Peter Altham are in the England Deaf team to face Wales at Fylde RUFC on Sunday (1pm).
Flanker George, who still plays for Wharfedale, is making his international debut but the more established international Peter has left the Dalesmen for the host club.
Another Green, Adam Faulkner, is on the wing for England.
* Yorkshire scrum half Matt Dudman (Prince Henry’s Grammar School) scored a brace of tries as the North beat the South West 32-31 with the last kick of the game in the Under-18 Divisional Festival at Broadstreet RFC, near Coventry.
The North, whose squad also included Otley’s William Boardman, Prince Henry’s pair Luke Cole and Declan Dunn and Bradford Grammar School duo Sebastian Tullie and Matthew Beaumont, then defeated the Midlands 7-5 in their second match.
* Former Bradford Grammar School pupil Jacob Rowan has agreed a new one-year contract extension at Leeds Carnegie.
Rowan, who was 22 last week, has become a mainstay of the Leeds side this season, despite his tender years.
He also captained them in the absence of Andy Titterrell during the Christmas and New Year period.
* Former Beckfoot School pupil Georgina Roberts (Darlington Mowden Park Sharks), despite being a try-scorer in England’s 43-3 win over Italy last time out, has been dropped from the RBS Women’s Six Nations team to face Wales at Twickenham on Saturday (6.15pm).
